Teresa Barber, Director of Industry Relations, oversees strategic industry partnerships, thought leadership research and production, and strategic communications at IMS. She is responsible for cultivating partnerships with key industry leaders of top law firms, expert firms and consultancies, industry associations, universities, and media. Her role includes developing the editorial vision for IMS Insights research and thought leadership, dedicated to providing AmLaw 100 attorneys, law firm officers, and Fortune 500 in-house counsel the context and clarity needed on trends and best practices in a way that enables them to grow their firms and practices and navigate uncertainty. Teresa partners with IMS’s community of the world’s top subject matter experts, litigators, analysts, and legal industry leaders to the firm’s clients and stakeholders to the most influential voices at the intersection of law, business, policy, technology, and science to delve into topics and practice areas spanning intellectual property, commercial litigation, environmental, technology, healthcare, securities, antitrust, banking, finance, and the business of law.
In 2020, Teresa led a highly collaborative editorial and panel discussion series exploring the impacts of COVID-19 on insurance coverage disputes and other key areas. The in-depth IMS Insights broadcasts and articles during this period prompted the National Law Review to name IMS winner of a 2020 “Go-To Thought Leader” award. Under Teresa’s leadership, IMS has been recognized in this publication’s “Go-To Thought Leader” awards for three consecutive years, and garnered standing in eight categories of The National Law Journal’s “Best of 2021” awards and two “Hall of Fame” awards. In 2019, the National Law Review named Teresa individually as a “Go-To Thought Leader” for her work on the IMS Insights Podcast series.
Teresa is a NASA Social alumnus and has led several efforts advancing national and regional STEM initiatives, including serving as judge for the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s Best Commitment to Education Corporate Citizenship Awards and as a member of this foundation’s regional working group on talent policy and competitiveness. She serves on the faculty of the Studer Community Institute, is a steering committee member for the University of South Florida’s Digital Marketing Certification Program, member of the International Association of Business Communicators, and member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Teresa earned an MBA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Gies College of Business and a specialization certification in executive data science from The Johns Hopkins University.
