By: Jeremy Young & Scott Hilton

A class of minor league players sued the Commissioner of Baseball and Major League Baseball (MLB) franchises alleging poverty-level salaries and unpaid overtime in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and state labor laws.

Our Role

In this long-running dispute, IMS Consulting & Expert Services was hired to provide the plaintiffs with graphics for critical early hearings. Specifically, IMS created demonstratives that relayed summaries of case law and data on key motions regarding potential dismissal due to lack of jurisdiction, potential transfer of cases, and certification of class. Our clients were successful in progressing this case toward trial.

Note: This casework was originally created by The Focal Point team, which joined with IMS in 2019.

Case Results

Just ahead of the trial date, after more than eight years of litigation, the players accepted a settlement offer of $185 million from MLB, one of the largest wage-and-hour settlements in history.
