IMS Consulting & Expert Services worked closely with Cooley lawyers over four years in various hearings and lawsuits to support Gevo, a leader in the engineering of isobutanol-based fuel products, against its competitor in the marketplace, Butamax.
Our Role
IMS Consulting & Expert Services helped Cooley to defend against patent infringement allegations waged against Gevo and to assert Gevo's own patents. A key role for IMS was to work closely with experts in the biochemical and bioengineering industry to create supporting graphics that would convey simply both the complicated natural process and the engineered five-step process of ethanol and isobutanol production in yeast cells. Additionally, IMS trial consultants worked closely with Cooley to develop the key issues and facts in the case story and to refine the legal arguments.
